Allegations Najib’s Legal Fees Amount To RM2.4 Million Not True: Shafee

KUALA LUMPUR: The allegations that the legal fees for former
prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Abd Razak’s case amounts to RM2.4 million is
not true, says his lead counsel Tan Sri Shafee Abdullah (pix).
This morning Umno supreme council member Datuk Lokman Noor
Adam told the media that funds that were raised was enough for the bail amount
of RM500,000 but insufficient for the legal fees which was about RM2.4 million.
“Not correct. We haven’t discussed on fees yet,”
Shafee told theSun briefly when contacted.

On Wednesday when he had defended Najib at the High Court,
Shafee applied for an interim gag order until the case management on Aug 8.
He also alleged that the prosecution team headed by Attorney
General Tommy Thomas was not ready in the legal battle as the documents were
not handed over.
However, Thomas dismissed this by pointing out that the
documents will only be handed nearing trial as outlined in a court provision.
Najib was arrested by the Malaysia Anti-Corruption
Commission (MACC) on July 3 at 2.35pm at his house on Jalan Langgak Duta, Kuala
Lumpur according to a statement by the 1MDB task force that is undertaking
investigations on the scandal.
